MCAS Miramar Auto Service Center (Miramar Air Station, California)

Project Description

Western Pump designed and built the entire fueling system for this new, ground-up gas station, convenience store, and car wash. The project included the installation of three 30,000-gallon underground storage tanks, one 15,000-gallon underground storage tank, twelve fuel dispensers (24 fueling positions), and an 8,832-square-foot canopy structure with energy efficient LED lighting. Western Pump self-performed 100% of the fuel system mechanical and electrical design, permitting, equipment installation, construction, system testing, certification, and employee training.

Notable Accomplishment

  • We encountered existing hardpan, caliche, and cobbles during excavation (the geotechnical report did not indicate this). Western Pump worked with Haskell to mitigate the negative impacts on the project schedule and budget; this was accomplished by quickly securing additional heavy equipment and by negotiating a fair rate.

“Western Pump performed very well. They provided welcome expertise and guidance both on the technical elements as well as permitting. The work was completed safely and with a high-level of quality. Western Pump overcame some difficult site conditions and completed the work ahead of schedule. I look forward to the opportunity to work with them again.”
